Welcome Islamic Bank of Afghanistan to the Afghanistan Microfinance Association (AMA)!
We are delighted to announce that the Islamic Bank of Afghanistan (IBA) has joined AMA as an active member. With this addition, the number of AMA member institutions has increased from nine to ten.
As outlined in the Microfinance Regulation, AMA is mandated to serve as a liaison between the central bank (Da Afghanistan Bank – DAB), microfinance institutions (MFIs), and supporting organizations. Our responsibilities include collecting, organizing, and reporting data on the microfinance sector. Accordingly, any organization engaged in providing microfinance services is required to report its activities to AMA on a regular basis.
IBA is incorporated as a banking institution under the Law of Banking in Afghanistan and is fully licensed by DAB in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. The bank has established 45 branches, 3 counters, and 47 ATMs across the country.
In response to IBA’s request, DAB has issued No Objection Certificate allowing the establishment of microfinance window and the launch of microfinance activities aimed at enhancing financial access for underserved populations.
We are pleased to welcome IBA as an active member of AMA and look forward to your valuable support and collaboration.
AMA offers a wide range of services to its member institutions, including: Advocacy and lobbying, Coordination and networking, Knowledge management, and Capacity building
