CEO Coordination Meeting for Microfinance Sector

The Afghanistan Microfinance Association (AMA) organized the monthly Microfinance Sector CEOs Coordination Meeting on June 22, 2025. The event invited CEOs and representatives from member institutions, as well as officials from the Microfinance Investment and Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA), including the Program Director and Monitoring and Supervision Officer.

The national microfinance program continues to expand its footprint across Afghanistan, with recent expansion into Nangarhar and Ghazni provinces.

During the meeting, CEOs of the Microfinance Institutions presented their expansion plans, stating their intention to establish new branch offices in additional provinces to ensure broader financial inclusion and equal opportunities for communities across the country.

MISFA also demonstrated its commitment to the growth and development of the microfinance sector and expressed its willingness to support MFIs through funding and strategic collaboration. Participants suggested that MISFA could further assist by investing in the capacity building that includes staff training in Islamic financing, upgrading management information systems, enhancing risk management practices, and supporting the development of efficient operational processes. Additionally, participants emphasized AMA’s role as a key body for networking and coordination within the microfinance sector.

It was also discussed that AMA will hold an Advisory Board meeting to discuss important strategies and plan for the association’s future.
